Fishing Testimonials

Chris,

I just thought that I should drop you a quick line (sorry about the pun) to thank you for a great weekend of fishing on Flinders Island this last weekend. Particular thanks also to Sandra and Rachel for their personal sacrifice on the beach Friday night by attracting any biting insects to themselves and away from the paying guests – you think of everything!

Some of the highlights that immediately come to mind:

Standing on the beach with the surf rod at sunset with the mountains of Cape Barren Island just across the water, one of our party in an arm wrestle with a decent sized Eagle Ray, Rachel bringing a cold beer and some nibbles and the smell of chili abalone on the BBQ just about ready to eat.

Peter Dunn, who had never fished before, catching his first Blackback Salmon, and the look on his face afterwards.

The Flathead that we caught off the sandbar at North East River, particularly the biggest of the lot that looked like a small version of Steve Irwin’s crocs.

The magic two hours when it just about rained Blackback – I think I stopped counting after we got to thirty. There’s nothing nicer than catching a few fish and knowing that you don’t have to spend hours inexpertly filleting them; in fact, I think I learned a bit just from watching you, but I don’t reckon I’ll be challenging you at the next Filleting Olympics.

Thanks for your time, your knowledge and your companionship – all ten of us had a marvellous time. I’m more than happy to recommend the fishing trip to anyone that cares to ask, and I’m sure that the other 9 people will do the same when they have finished scoffing the fish and crayfish that they brought back with them.

Best Regards and Thanks Again             Mike Shaw
